Movies to get you into the spirit

December 18, 2008

I love movies. It's probably the one part of my life I miss the most from my pre children life. I don't miss going out in the evening and having some drinks. I don't even miss using the bathroom whenever I want to, alone. But I miss going to the movies on a whim and sitting through one just to kill some time. I do try to take advantage of the Cry Baby Matinees available  Read more...

Traditions for my Island Christmas

December 02, 2008

"It's tradition!" It's a line from "Ever After" (the movie starring Drew Barrymore that I should be embarrassed to admit I like, but I'm not) that I use whenever I want to do something that my husband from the mainland doesn't want to do with the family for the holidays. He's from a family that really didn't do much, so it' s a bit of a tug of war that gets revved up during the holidays,  Read more...

Fun things to do with other grown ups: meet up for crybaby movie matinee

September 16, 2008

I have friends who have kids the same age as Noah. Now that our kids are attending preschool during the day, for the first time in a long time we can do something that doesn't require a pack of wipes on hand, when we're together. Right off the bat we went and got a pedicure together and had some lunch at froufrou places. But now that a couple of us had babies in recent months,  Read more...

Tykes on the town: 8/30 to 9/5

August 29, 2008

There's lots going on down at Waikiki this weekend. Good to know whether you want to dive into the crowd or stay away. Here are some great things you can do with your preschooler. I've done all the hard work for you and compiled a list of things specifically for preschoolers. Honestly, I didn't list anything I wouldn't take my own Noah too. Sometimes they say the art tour or poetry  Read more...

We are deep into summer in paradise. It's the perfect time to go on some great adventures as a family. Tykes on the town: july 5 thru 11.

July 04, 2008

Happy Independence Day!! I listed all the self deemed preschool age appropriate activities (which means stuff that I would take Noah to) last week. I hope you are all celebrating in your own way! I wasn't able to find too much to do this next week. I guess after all the 4 th of July excitement, the city will be winding down and getting a bit of a break. Which means it's a perfect  Read more...

June 30, 2008

I adore going to the movies. There's just something special watching films in the dark on a large screen, chomping popcorn. It's something you can't duplicate at home. And even better, it means you get to sit for several hours in air conditioning during really hot summer days. Watching films in a theater is the one thing that I actually struggled to give up once I had Noah. Not  Read more...
