The Christmas Gift of Aloha 2008

December 04, 2008

Have I mentioned how much I like Lisa Matsumoto's work here before?  Hee hee.  I think I have.  But it's true.  And she loved our Keiki.  So much that she was constantly thinking of ways to make issues and events relevant to them by speaking to them about it from an island view.

This Christmas, like the past four Christmases, you will find a performance of The Christmas Gift of Aloha at Ala Moana's Center Stage every weekend day from 6 to 6:30pm.  The story is about a traditional elf from the north pole finding himself stranded here.  He runs into Hawaiian elves, busy at work and learns what the Aloha spirit really means.

It's an entertaining show filled with song and dance.  It has all the trappings of a live theater show, but it's only 30 minutes long, which means our little ones will be really into it for the whole thing.  Plus they don't have to sit in seats.  They can bop to the music and move around as much as they want to.

It's also the last year for this show.  Even with Lisa's passing last year, the producers, cast and crew decided to fulfil the 5 year promise and run it one last time without her.  It will be bittersweet for me to watch, but for Noah, I'm guessing that it will be just exciting fun!

p.s. If you live in the Wahiawa area, don't miss the Wahiawa Town Parade tomorrow (12/5) night at 6:30pm.  Starts at Kaala Elementary School, to California Ave., then to North Cane Street and ending at Center Street, with a stop at Wahiawa town center.
