If i had to recommend a storytime...

November 11, 2008

Every Friday, I list here all the events and kid friendly activities I've found to help you plan your upcoming week.  In those Friday posts, you'll also find a list of story times ongoing and happening all over the city.  I wish I could tell you which one our favorite is.  But I must be honest with you.  We've never been to a formal story time.  Ever.

I don't know if you've been able to tell, but we read a whole lot of books at home.  But  when we get out of the house, it's all about running around for us.  Outside activities are meant to burn off energy, and story time doesn't necessarily allow for that.  Plus, I'm realistic.  Noah's doing pretty good sitting through circle time at school now, but it was a challenge for him to get there.  He simply didn't GET the idea of sitting and listening before starting preschool.  So, knowing that he'd probably cause a ruckus, I avoided activities that required him to keep still and quiet.

I guess we could try some out now, especially because he can and likes to sit through whole stories now.  But when the weekend hits, we get a better nap out of him if we use our town romping through the zoo or tearing through a park, you know?

Anyway, please accept my apologies for not having a first hand view of how the various story times I listed, actually goes.  But, I can tell you that if I were to choose a story time to take my kids to, I'd choose the one that takes place at Barnes and Nobles Ala Moana.  Just because of the big, kid friendly space they have, and because if they want more fun after story time, or they get bored because it's a book that's for older kids, you have lots of other options to entertain them at the mall.
